Homeless Hot Meal and Sack Lunch Ministry
Coordinators Dawn Howland and the Burger families
Our members and volunteers provide 100 sack lunches on the 3rd Monday
and 100 hot lunches on the 3rd Tuesday of every month to the homeless
at the United Methodist Open Door Homeless Drop in Center in Wichita.
This United Methodist Open Door ministry provides the homeless with support
through prayers, counseling, and referrals. The Drop-In-Center also provides
meals, showers, laundry service, local phone calls, and storage bins for
their belongings. The homeless are very appreciative of the assistance.
This is all provided through the assistance of our church and many others
that wish to share God’s love with those in need.
You can assist by bringing sack lunches to the church the Sunday morning
before to the 3rd Monday of the month. You can also assist with the preparation
of the hot lunch at the Kechi UMC kitchen at 10:00 am on the 3rd Tuesday
of each month and/or help serve the lunch at the Homeless Drop-In-Center
at 353 N. Market in Wichita at 11:45 am.

Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity
Coordinators Paul Burger and John Reiz
One day per week March thru November we assist Habitat for Humanity with
the construction of houses in Wichita. This is a Christian housing ministry
devoted to eliminating substandard housing through home ownership. The
family to receive the house helps build their house and others, and then
pays back the cost of the house over 20 years with no profit or interest
charged.
There is work for all skill levels. You can volunteer for ½ day
or all day. Contact the church office.

Emergency Food Packs and/or Hygiene Packs for UMOD
Coordinator Sherry Scott
Yearly we collect cans of food and/or hygiene packs for the United Methodist
Open Door food ministry in Wichita. On a Sunday afternoon we have a family
work time to package 8 cans per sack. This is the “emergency food
pack” of 8 cans per sack that a family of 2 to 5 persons receives
at the food ministry. Other fresh and frozen food is then added to this
pack at the time of distribution.
The hygiene items are packed into personal hygiene kits.
Watch for the dates of this project on the church calendar. You are invited
to bring canned goods and/or personal hygiene items. We will have a work
day at the church to package them.
